Rolf and Lucia Serick Foundations

On 11 August 1997, Professor Emeritus Rolf Serick (1922-2000), longstanding director of the Institute for Comparative Law, Conflict of Laws and International Business Law, married to Mrs. Dr. iur. Lucia Serick née Schottlaender (1923-1991), established the non-profit Rolf and Lucia Serick Foundation.

The foundation’s aim is the acquisition of German-language book stock for the Institute in the areas of German civil, trade and business law as well as the annual presentation of the Serick Prize for outstanding doctoral theses in the Institute’s fields of focus; these works are published in the collection “Heidelberg Studies in Comparative and Business Law” (‘Heidelberger rechtsvergleichende und wirtschaftsrechtliche Studien’).

The Serick Prize has been awarded to these doctoral theses.

The board of the foundation consists of the Dean of the Law Faculty and the respective Directors of the Institute; Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas Pfeiffer is the sitting head of the board, Professor Dr. Marc-Philippe Weller is vice chairman.
