Library Rules

A. For External Users

I. Conditions of Use and Acces

The library is a reference library. Borrowing books outside the library is not possible.

II. Use of Books

1. In room 6, there are two PC workspaces which may be used for searching the online catalogue HEIDI. An overview of all locations of books and journals can be found here as well.
2. Workspaces for guests are provided in Gutzwiller Hall (room 21) at all desks that do not have names assigned to them and in room 16.
3. When removing a book from its shelf, an orange paper dummy must be filled out entirely and placed at the book’s location.
4. No more than 15 books may be borrowed at once.
5. Except for temporary copying purposes, unbound journals may only be used stationarily in the journal room.

III. End of Use

Volumes not in use must be returned to their proper location and the paper dummy must be removed. 

IV. Violations

Violators will be warned at first. Upon second offence, admittance to the library can be refused.

B. For employees and permanent guests

I. Permanent guests

The status of permanent guest is achieved upon registration at the Institute secretariat (room 7) and the assignment of a workspace.

II. Conditions of Use and Acces

The library is a reference library. Borrowing books outside the library is not possible.

III. Use of Books

1. For removal of literature from its proper location, the rules for external users apply accordingly.
2. The room number of the borrower’s workspace must be marked down on the orange paper dummies. ‘Personal libraries’ are prohibited.
3. For a period of no longer than one semester, no more than 30 volumes may be used simultaneously at any assigned workspace.
4. No more than three unbound journals may be removed at once, provided orange paper dummies are placed appropriately (also when photocopying!).
5. They must be returned no later than one day after removal.

IV. Violations

Violators will be warned at first. Upon second offence, also employees can be denied admittance to the library.
